THE JEWISH PIEDMONT REAVEALED

Uncover the hidden treasures of Piedmont’s Jewish heritage. Explore the region with the greatest concentration of accessible synagogues in Italy

Day 1 - Sunday, March 9

Upon individual arrival at the NH Santo Stefano Hotel in Turin, meet Lisa, your Lilipans Tour Leader, at the 4-star NH Santo Stefano Hotel in Turin. We’ll kick things off with a welcome drink and some delicious appetizers to get to know each other.

Day 2 - Monday, March 10

Following a yummy breakfast at the hotel, Lisa, who’s also a local guide and knows Turin like the back of her hand, will take you on a lovely stroll through the old town, stopping at the iconic Mole Antonelliana. We’ll then head over to the Jewish quarter and tour the synagogue with Dr. Baruch Lampronti, architect from the Polytechnic University of Turin and member of the Cultural Heritage commission of the Jewish Community of Turin. We’ll pause for a hot chocolate or a traditional “bicerin” along the way. After lunch at the Eno restaurant, our driver will drop us back at the hotel. Later, Lisa will show us some more of the historic center

Day 3 - Tuesday, March 11

Our journey today takes us to Casale Monferrato, a one-and-a-half-hour drive away by private minibus. Dr. Lampronti will be with us again to guide us through the stunning Casale synagogue and the fascinating Museum of Lights, an incredible collection of over 250 channukkiot created by Jewish and non-Jewish artists.

Next stop is Vercelli where, after lunch at famous local restaurant, dr. Lampronti will show the Jewish Cemetery of the town.

Late afternoon return to Torino and rest of the day at leisure

Day 4 - Wednesday, March 12

Today, departure for Carmagnola, a charming little town located 30 kilometers from Turin, where dr. Lampronti will give us an exclusive tour of the splendid baroque synagogue. Afterwards, you will continue to Cherasco and visit the cozy 1700s synagogue, located on the last floor of a private building.  You’ll stop in the town of Bra for lunch and continue the day visiting two other treasures of Piedmont’s Jewish heritage and architecture: the synagogues of Mondovì and Saluzzo.

Return to Turin. After freshening up at the hotel, we’ll meet for a “farewell” dinner at a traditional Turin restaurant, reachable after a pleasant walk.
